Course overview
Flow assurance discipline involves designing and analysing the thermohydraulic behaviour of hydrocarbon fluids in pipelines and process equipment to ensure uninterrupted production and revenue flow. Whether you are dealing with crude oil transportation, wet gas transportation or gas transmission pipelines in the onshore or offshore environment, the need to assure that the fluid arrives at its destination safely and efficiently without halting production is critical to the profitability of the assets. The participant would be learning how to carry out flow assurance study and analysis for typical field development and hydrocarbon pipeline system. The training would start with the theoretical basis of flow assurance to give the participant a firm grasp of the fundamental principle upon which design and analysis in flow assurance study are rooted in. The participants would then be exposed to applying the fundamental concepts in actual flow assurance study using case studies and calculations exercises.
The training would be delivered by a team of experts with a sound understanding of oil and gas fluid flow behaviour—multiphase flow and production chemistry with the experience of applying the fundamental understanding in delivering flow assurance studies using spreadsheet calculations and commercial modelling software.
Expected learning outcomes
• Understand flow assurance risk for oil, condensate, and gas systems
• Understand the scope of flow assurance at any stage of the oil and gas project lifecycle
• Understand the workflow of a typical flow assurance study and the inter-relationship of the stages in the design and operation of a production system
• Develop a systematic approach to solving a flow assurance problem during the operational phase of the oil and gas production system
• Be able to carry out a reliable flow assurance analysis in the design of oil and gas system
•Develop a systematic approach to evaluating and comparing mitigation and remediation techniques for flow assurance problems like hydrates, wax deposition, asphaltenes, emulsions, scale, corrosion, erosion and sand, and slugging
